profile
I discovered creative stitchery when I took my young daughter to an embroidery course intended for children. I eventually joined a City and Guilds course at the London College of Fashion, where I spent six very enjoyable and exciting years.
I enjoy dyeing fabrics to achieve the colours I want. I have recently experimented with printmaking and have used lino-prints and collagraph prints in my work. I also use block printing to add pattern to the dyed fabric.
Towards the end of 1996 I joined the Phoenix Contemporary Textile Group and have enjoyed the stimulation of working with like-minded people.
For over ten years I ran the Enfield Young Embroiderers’ Group and have recently taken over the chairmanship of the branch.
