profile
I inherited an early love of needlework and the creative arts from my mother who was a keen dressmaker. Growing up I explored a number of disciplines and ways of working, including pottery, knitting, collage and crochet. I was constantly dabbling in new mediums, exploring the properties of new materials and their aesthetic values and potential for self-expression.
My adventurous approach and interest in trying my hand at new ways of working have led me most recently to adopt digital photography and electronic image manipulation, which combined with more traditional art-forms, create unique, dynamic and highly personal work.
The conflict between the man-made and natural environment is the main source of inspiration behind my work, and consequently my pieces often feature flowing organic shapes, colours and textures juxtaposed against much more rigid, angular and mechanical motifs - much like my mixed media approach to the realisation of my ideas.
