profile
I studied ceramics and textile design at college and later decided to pursue my interest in needlework. This has led me down many different routes, developing varied themes and working with a number of mediums and techniques such as hand and machine stitch, appliqué, collage, printing, dyeing and painting fabric. Also use of the embellisher and heat tools.
Recent themes have included work based on a visit to Japan, a series inspired by the work of Vieira da Silva, ‘Doorways’ in vernacular buildings, and the and the structures and colour in modern buildings.
Current work for the PCTG exhibition is based on the subject of the Staffordshire Hoard.
I have taught for 20 years, first for Surrey County Council, Richmond Adult Education College and the Kingston Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild.
