profile

An early interest in embroidery was reawakened whilst pursuing a textile course which led me to take the City & Guilds course in Creative Embroidery at the London College of Fashion. Here I drew, experimented with stitch techniques, dyed threads, fabric and paper, made felt, paper and manipulated fabrics. It was a voyage of discovery, finding out what appealed and excited me. I am also participating in a Master Design course to improve and widen my artistic skills.

My interest is mainly with the natural world around me and am constantly being re-invigorated and inspired by the beauty of landscapes and mountainous regions. Having hiked many times around the South West area of the United States, I have found inspiration in the grandeur and colour of its canyons, rock strata and the past human presence in the form of cave dwellings, rock art and artifacts. As well as the natural world, I also find stimulation in today’s modern organic architecture.
