I came to embroidery by way of upholstery and furniture restoration, which led me to invent stitched seat covers to fit to old chairs. I then discovered a passionate interest in designing. The City & Guilds course introduced me to the huge possibilities of techniques like dyeing, manipulating, burning etc., as well as stitching and using a mixture of media. Studying for the Diploma at Windsor I discovered art and began to relate art to stitching.
To help to develop my artistic skills I have taken painting, drawing and life drawing classes, and an advanced design class.
Although I am inspired by nature, I am also fascinated by the possibilities of trying out new materials. I probably enjoy experimenting more than anything else.
